Couples Therapy
Couples therapy at Committed Counseling offers motivated partners the opportunity to explore and improve their relationship dynamics. Through addressing conflicts and developing essential skills, couples can heal both current and past wounds, leading to a stronger bond. Whether you're looking to enhance communication, rebuild trust, deepen your connection, or create a safe and enduring relationship, couples therapy can provide the support you need.

Couples therapy is designed for those who find their communication breaking down and small issues escalating into bigger conflicts. If you often feel stuck in patterns of miscommunication, decreased trust, fear of hurting each other, or a sense of not being heard or understood, therapy can provide the support you need. Intense fights or emotional withdrawal are common outcomes of these issues.
For couples who have experienced broken trust due to infidelity, deception, or broken promises, therapy offers a path to healing and rebuilding trust. At Committed Counseling, we help couples navigate these challenges, fostering a stronger, more resilient relationship.

Getting Started: The first step is to schedule a 15-minute phone consultation with Johni to ensure she can provide the support you need and to discuss your goals for couples therapy. If both parties are comfortable moving forward, an intake session will be scheduled. Johni will then send an email with instructions on completing your intake forms, setting up your TherapyPortal account, and providing directions to the office.
Initial Session: The first session typically lasts 75 minutes. During this time, Johni will explain the counseling process, discuss confidentiality, and explore the couple's goals for therapy. It's an opportunity to delve into the issues in depth, allowing each partner to share their perspectives on the challenges they face. The session may also include a review of the couple's relationship history, highlighting both the highs and lows.
Individual Sessions: The second and third sessions are individual meetings, each lasting 50 minutes and usually scheduled in the week following the initial session. Johni will meet with each partner separately to explore topics such as seeking comfort, past relationships, intimacy, and family history. These sessions provide a deeper understanding of each individual, which informs the work on the relationship.
Subsequent Sessions: From the fourth session onwards, Johni will meet with both partners together. The focus will be on identifying issues and collaboratively developing new ways of interacting that align with the couple's goals. Sessions will continue to support the couple in achieving their desired outcomes.
